It's the most power-dense package RAM has ever offered. There's more power per litre than the supercharged alcohol-injected HEMI®-powered Demon 170 — along with the incredible torque on demand that inline designs are known for, as well as superior fuel economy.

Power & Performance

The Hurricane Engine

The foundation of the Hurricane engine is a deep-skirt cast-aluminium block with structural aluminium alloy oil pan. The strongest RAM engine ever uses cross-bolted steel main bearing caps to contain the robust rotating assembly of a forged-steel crankshaft and forged-steel connecting rods. During manufacturing, the block is deck-plate honed to optimize the cylinder bore shape, which helps improve fuel efficiency.

Each turbocharger in the Hurricane straight-six twin-turb feeds three cylinders. From a performance standpoint, two smaller turbochargers with less inertia spin up faster and deliver boost to the engine at lower rpm than a single, large turbo. The result? The Hurricane twin-turbo flexes its muscle with a broad, flat torque band that sees the engine maintain at least 90% of peak torque from 2,350 rpm all the way to its red line.

Without a doubt, the Hurricane powertrain is the next evolution in the proud RAM tradition of power and performance.
