It's the most power-dense package RAM has ever offered. There's more power per litre than the supercharged alcohol-injected HEMI®-powered Demon 170 — along with the incredible torque on demand that inline designs are known for, as well as superior fuel economy.

Power & Performance

The Hurricane Engine

The foundation of the Hurricane engine is a deep-skirt cast-aluminium block with structural aluminium alloy oil pan. The strongest RAM engine ever uses cross-bolted steel main bearing caps to contain the robust rotating assembly of a forged-steel crankshaft and forged-steel connecting rods. During manufacturing, the block is deck-plate honed to optimize the cylinder bore shape, which helps improve fuel efficiency.

Each turbocharger in the Hurricane straight-six twin-turb feeds three cylinders. From a performance standpoint, two smaller turbochargers with less inertia spin up faster and deliver boost to the engine at lower rpm than a single, large turbo. The result? The Hurricane twin-turbo flexes its muscle with a broad, flat torque band that sees the engine maintain at least 90% of peak torque from 2,350 rpm all the way to its red line.

Without a doubt, the Hurricane powertrain is the next evolution in the proud RAM tradition of power and performance.

Actual towing capacity depends on factors including the laden mass of the vehicle, driving conditions, and fitment of any accessories. The vehicle cannot be operated at maximum Payload capacity and maximum Towing Capacity at the same time, as this will exceed the Gross Combination Mass limit because the Ball Weight must also be factored into the calculation. Maximum vehicle capacities and specifications are for sealed road use only. Ram Trucks Australia does not recommend vehicles be operated at their maximum vehicle limits on unsealed roads or off-road tracks.
